Alexey Retinsky studied composition and electroacoustic composition at The Music Academy of Kiev and Zurich University of the Arts. His PhD studies were concluded at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz by Beat Furrer. Retinsky now lives and works in Vienna.
Retinsky’s oeuvre is wide; as a creator of symphonic, chamber and electronic music, as well as music for theater, film, animation, installations and performance art. His music works and various projects have been performed in Mariinsky Theatre (RU), National Philharmonic of Ukraine, Museums Quartier in Vienna (AU), Museum Joaneum Graz (AU), by the Festival CIME/ICEM Denton (USA), MDR Musiksommer Eisenach (DE), Musik von zeitgenossischen Komponisten in Luzern (CH) and many others. In collaboration with the studio Idee und Klang (CH) he created music for such museums as Swiss National Museum in Zurich, the Imperial War Museum in London, the King Abdelaziz Centre for World Culture in Saudi Arabia. In the field of cinema he works at the moment with the company LenDoc (St. Petersburg), as well with Director Nick Dreyden.
